SHP Construction & Civil completed the installation of a free standing cantilevered covered walkway extending from the amenities block over the existing access ramp and to the entrance doors of the hall. The covered walkway included installation of lighting and the stormwater drainage linked into the existing drainage system. Construction involved an appropriate mix of innovation and cost-effective solutions, taking into account the character of the site landscape whilst achieving a contemporary feel. Materials, finishes and services are durable and low maintenance consistent with the high wear and tear encountered in the school environment. During the project it was determined that pad footings were required rather than the strip footings reflected on the original drawings and the SHP team adapted and coordinated the variation into the project planning and execution with minimal disruption to the operational school environment.
